Northstar is a new open water winter swim challenge for the 2026/27 season, built around distance rather than days. The goal is 2000 metres per month in open water, swum in skins — with or without neoprene socks, gloves or a hat. You can break that up across as many sessions as suits you.
Northstar is the biggest of our three new distance-based challenges, for anyone who wants to make real distance their winter goal.
If 2000 metres a month feels like a stretch to start with, Aurora (1000 metres) or Iceflow (500 metres) are more accessible starting points. Prefer a day-count challenge instead of a distance one? The Original, Mixed Bag and All Wetsuits might suit you better.
Use the website to log every swim as you go. Watch your monthly total build, see how the rest of the Chatter Tribe are getting on via the Chatterboard, and keep yourself accountable along the way.
